Toxicology

Toxicology is the science of chemical safety. Aim and mission of toxicology is to identify potential harmful effects of chemical compounds on humans, animals and the environment, and to provide for their prevention and treatment. Appropriate experimentation and expert judgment allow minimizing the probability of the occurrence of adverse effects, which in the past have sometimes been of catastrophic dimension. Toxicology is a multidisciplinary science based upon Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Epidemiology.

The PhD program in toxicology defines graduate training in toxicology in which the students will be provided with the opportunity to pursue studies that will prepare them for a range of career paths. Graduates of this program are primed for leadership roles in different areas of toxicology including: mechanistic, clinical, analytical, forensic, environmental and regulatory.
